Memorial Day Milestones

So happy to have a long weekend to get little closer to being 'done'.  It's certainly nice being here, and being able to work on multiple projects at once.  There is a lot to do.

Here are some of the interior items that have made some progress.

The living room:

 (That is a 50" TV by the way)

The focal point of the living room has yet to be built. But as a reminder here is what it will look like. I call it "The Modern Fireplace". There will be a hearth and a mantle.

The Dining room (Disregard the junk on the tables). Seating for 8.

My favorite area: The shop. Having almost every tool imaginable, but having them packed away has been driving me crazy. Now the rest of the projects will roll ahead at warp speed. (Sorry, Star Trek marathon this weekend)

One more milestone was reached: Getting a car back in the garage.

Night time - lights

Just wanted to post a couple more pictures of the outside, at night, now that the porches are in.

Oh yeah, and I'm now moved back in. YAY!  
There are lots of boxes to unpack and "systems" to finalize. Such as the sound system and some of the computer equipment.  But all in all, I'm now living in my new house and loving it,

New Porch and Patio

Last week the new front porch and rear patio were pored. What a difference this makes on both sides of the house. In the front, it's much larger than the previous. This now matches the lighting to create a nice approach to the house. Now who's got a rocker and a banjo!

Now the patio. This was a combo of a nice large patio, plus a connection to the existing garage. Which is at another height level all together.

Weekend update

Got a lot of little stuff knocked out this weekend. Like hanging mirrors in the bathrooms and mounting the vanity lights.

The tiling is all done, except for the grout. This was done in the 1st floor half bath and the 2nd floor spare bath.

Also, check out the stair railings. These just need a hand rail now. Which did arrive on Friday and just need to get drilled and glued in to place.  These wood panels are just temporary, and will make great templates for the glass panels (If I can afford them). For now, they provide the needed protection for the mid section of the railing.

New Stairs

So the final railing was installed today. That also enabled me to officially install the 3.5" high treads, on those custom stringers I posted about a while ago.  So what do you think?

Weekend update

Just some quick pics for you (It's 1:45am. I'm tired)

Took some outdoor shots at night. I like the uniform coverage of the porch and the high lights that present the more modern sides of the house. Soon there will be a new porch for the light to shine on..

The kitchen got a couple of updates this weekend. Granite counter tops were installed. Plus a new gas range and range-hood.  Bring on the instant oatmeal!! I'm cooking soon.
